ProConsultations™ / "Pitch" Sessions with Literary Agents and Publishers - Free

consultationProConsultationsoffer you a one-on-one "pitch" meeting with a literary agent or publisher. This is a terrific way to make connections as well as get constructive, professional feedback and advice on your work.

You may consult with or "pitch" a particular professional regarding an interest in representing your specific project, but also use the session as an opportunity to receive information, constructive criticism and feedback concerning the viability, marketability, or quality of your idea or synopsis.

ProConsultations are available for registered attendees to meet with agents and publishers in person. This is not a ProCritique -- they do not read the manuscript in advance. This service is a part of your registration at no extra cost.

  • Attendees must be registered and paid in full for the conference in order to participate in ProConsultations.
  • After you complete check-in/registration and have your badge and credentials, you may visit the 1-on-1 ProCritique / Consultation Desk. There will be a list of agents and publishers who have agreed to meet, and a master calendar with open time slots. You will select who you want and when to meet, based the availability. The calendar is usually available at the start of the conference each day.
  • Consultations are scheduled on a first come, first served basis at the time attendees receive credentials at the registration desk. Requested professionals are not guaranteed for all the usual "Act of God" reasons. Consult the biographies of the agents and/or publishers in advance to determine the best person(s) to present your work.
  • If an agent or publisher wants more time with an attendee, additional appointments may be scheduled at no extra cost.
  • Please note: there are no guarantees that appointments will be available after the attendee leaves the check-in/registration desk.
  • consultationDo not send manuscripts to WC2 in advance. You may bring a copy of the first three chapters with a synopsis of the work, so you have it available should the agent or publisher ask to receive it. Some may prefer a printed copy, some may prefer MS Word Docs, or PDFs on a CD, most will give you a business card with a special email address to send the requested material. You should be ready with all options, as well as have the entire MS on a CD or thumbdrive.

We do not offer duplicating services at the conference, so plan ahead.
  • At the start of the session, you may enter and sit with your appointment for the allotted time. When an end to the session is announced, please move on to your next appointment. IF THE AGENT OR PUBLISHER GIVES YOU NO INDICATION TO MOVE ON, YOU MAY REMAIN SEATED.
  • If the agent or publisher declines interest, please stand and move on in a cordial, timely manner so that the next attendee may have his/her full appointment. When you have finished your appointments, please exit the meeting room. If you've arranged for further time with an agent or publisher, you should also arrange for a place to meet convenient to both of you.

NOTE: Attendees who enroll for Masters ProCritiques / Advanced Submissions with literary agents will receive first choice of appointments, which are scheduled in advance. The open balance of the calendar for free ProConsultations (pitch sessions) is posted the first day of the conference. Many of the time slots are filled by attendees who register for all three days.

There are no guarantees that free time slots will be available, especially for attendees who register for Saturday and/or Sunday only. Simply, there is only so many hours in a day that we can ask agents to meet and take pitches, so this free service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Thanks for your understanding.

Missed consultation appointments will not be rescheduled or refunded.
